Mango – Potato fritters

A real feast for taste buds. A perfect side dish or a yummy healthy snack/starters.

Its evening tea time, the sun’s going down ..it just feels like the perfect time to spice up my taste buds. Chai accompanied with chaats is a treat for the eyes . One of the chaat that I have tried today is simple aloo tikki – Potato fritters replacing the amchur powder with fresh raw mangoes…. Yes mangoes my favourite..

In India chaats are comfort food for all. Anywhere – anytime is chaat time.. I remember the chaatwala near my house, the tikkis are always heating up on the tawa . It just keeps getting crispier and crispier. It is served with a chana gravy which tastes spicy-tangy-sour , this is then topped with some raw onions, coriander, a green chutney which is hot , a red chutney which is sweet and finally topped with crunchy sev.. This aloo tikki chaat definitely blasts in the mouth.

I have made a drier and plain version of this chaat. Check out my simple recipe of Potato fritters. I have avoided deep frying it. Just shallow fried it on a low heat for some time to get its colour and crispyness 🙂

1tsp finely chopped green chillies

Boil, Peel and mash the potato. There should not be any water content in the potato. Add all the ingredients mentioned above. Just mix it properly. Then with your hands take a small ball and flatten it. Heat a pan. Add 2 spoons of oil, spread it throughout the pan. Place these fritters and fry them.  If required just add a small spoon of oil. Just keep turning them . These are ready in around 10 mins..

These potato fritters can also be enjoyed as starters..
