A Simple Dal Fry with Steamed Rice …just makes my day

A Healthy and satisfying Indian meal.

No matter wherever I go and whatever new things I eat..a simple home made Dal Fry and Steamed Rice..just makes my day..

Taking a trip down the memory lane..I remember at my parents place the daily meal (lunch or dinner)..the simple Maharashtrian food (since I hail from Nagpur&Mumbai which are in Maharashtra, India)..would consist of Chapathi(the bread) it would always be phulka,one-two varieties of vegetable, rice and dal(mostly plain dal without giving tadka) served with a spoon of home-made ghee:):)(– these are the very basic ingredients of Indian Thali…)

After having this my mother would always insist on finishing the meal with a bowl of dal which would have half of a lime freshly squeezed in it. She would say that, when she was a kid, her father would ask her to have the same…

So…it’s a eating tradition passed on to us ….:):). Well, I still relish having a bowl of dal with fresh lime squeezed in it after my meal..or if I have no meal(when I feel like eating light) I will just have it as a soup. It’s the healthiest and light soup one can have…until and unless specifically advised by doctor not to…

Here, I have shared not just the plain dal but the Dal Fry recipe which I usually prepare at home. Loved by my hubby ..and appreciated by all who have had it…
