Mushroom Burger

Scrumptious Mushroom Patties in your burger buns . Make ahead and freeze it . Check it out.

Seeing the ready-made burger cutlets available in the store – ‘the frozen ones’, I thought of preparing my own burger cutlets at home.

With this thought in my mind and when I saw the packet of mushrooms in the fridge, I prepared my Mushroom Burger last month…Oh! I mean last year 🙂

 
 
 
 
 
 
Though the complete steps took some time but, these are very easy to make. If not in a Burger.These cutlets are an ideal tea-time snack or even a healthy breakfast.

Ingredients Used?
1 packet mushrooms
1 potato boiled and peeled
1 Bread slice soaked in water
1 green chilly
Some wholemeal flour and fine semolina for dusting
red chilli flakes(optional)
dried oregano 
salt
oil
 
How I Prepared It?
Finely slice the mushrooms. In a pan heat some oil. Add the sliced mushrooms to it, add salt, red chilli flakes(optional), a pinch or two of dried oregano. Saute for awhile and let it cook. We need to cook the mushrooms till all the moisture from it has evaporated. But do not caramelize it. Once this is done set it aside.
 
Boil a potato, peel and mash it.Add the cooked mushrooms to it. Add the soaked bread slice (press and drain out the water and then mash it in). Finely dice the green chilli and add it. Season it with some salt and thoroughly mix them all.
The Bread helps the cutlet in binding well.
 
Then apply some oil to your hands and give them the shape of cutlets. In a plate take just spread some 2-3 tbsp of wholemeal flour and fine semolina. Sprinkle some salt and mix it.
Coat the cutlets with this flour mixture and shallow fry them in a non stick pan. Brown them slowly on a low heat on both sides. Once it’s done, the Mushroom Cutlets are ready.
 
 
Arrange the Mushroom Cutlet in Burger Buns-
 
Keep ready sliced tomatoes, onions and some greens or lettuce.
For the green layer I had some spring greens with me.I had boiled them in water and then used. Lettuce are best and can be added directly.  
 
So, slice the buns. Apply some butter.Then add the layer of greens, onions, mushroom cutlet and tomatoes.Add any sauces as needed.
